Peru Unite

As I hope you read, Pucallpa was absolutely brillo pads but more has happened since..

I met a gorgeous Uruguayan called Rosio in the airport who I hope is having an amazing time - I felt like a right ‘gap yah’ girl making friends!

She kept me company after I had a cry about leaving the jungle (lol) and needed a phone charger (and was just really nice company).

I went to a province called Rio Seco with Whily’s (my Cajamarca Dad) sister Tía Nora and Hermanos Sebastian and Fernando the following weekend.

We told the story of Jesus calming the storm and made boats to help the kids remember God’s help in their times of trouble.

It was a wild experience, meeting with God’s people nestled in the Andes mountains - in a place I didn’t even know existed!!

The work that they do in Rio Seco is amazing- they’re missionaries bringing the Gospel and sharing with people every Sunday!

I think I’ll have to dedicate an update just to tell you about Rio Seco (keep your eyes peeled lol).

The following day included a bit of organising in the church library and then my first taste of guinea pig (cuy) - it’s taken 9 weeks for me to try Matthews fav whose eager fingers couldn’t stay away from the cuy!!

You know the sky is something I adore about this world and the sunrises here are worth getting up for!!

Another pic of the sky from one of my fave places in Cajamarca- the roof!

Whilst sorting the books on Tuesday we came across a photo of some amazing missionaries and friends who used to work in Peru. I don’t have to point out (but I’m gonna anyway) the look on Whily’s face that for me just depicts the proper friendship these guys have! Love it!

Wednesday = Matthew, April, Nikki (Cajamarca ‘Mom’) and I went to the local museums to do some learning about the Inca culture.

Love the views here!

Nikki is an awesome Mum and missionary (!!) and it’s been so cool to be ‘shown the ropes’ of every day missionary life & to be a part of their family here.

We also went to Santa Apolonia which “is interesting when I sight see there” according to Matthew, and a shared favourite spot of ours!

I forgot that we don’t get about in motos on the daily in Normy!

Another beaut sky!

Whily treated me to a run a few mornings this week, and at 2800m up I defo struggled (MORE than usual).

On Saturday we had youth group (as per every week) but this week’s special event was a lack of electricity so we made a fire as light and heat instead!! (classic)

It was such a good night I didn’t think about taking pictures but snapped some of the sky beforehand:

That night the sky was the most rich lilac I’ve ever seen and my eyes just couldn’t get enough (sounds super cheesey n lame but that’s me!)

I’ve been so welcomed in by the peeps at the church and yesterday spent time with a family from CCV at their restaurant (being fed both spiritually and physically).

Bet you didn’t expect this post to be quite so gap yah, but it’s true!!

Patty (the Mum of the lovely fam) took Alberto, Franco and I to an orphanage about an hour away and it was a really special afternoon.

Ended the week (and the update post) with brownies at the mall with mi amiga Fe 😋
